I have SD card as internal storage, so why do I still get "App requires external storage"?

I have a VANKYO MatrixPad S30 with 32 GB internal storage and a 128 GB SD card mounted as internal storage. Storage settings show 17.75 GB used out of a total of 160 GB, 11.71 GB on the internal storage and 6.05 GB on the SD card. All worked fine until recently. Now when I attempt to install or update apps from the play store, some (but not all) of them report "App requires external storage". All previously installed apps continue to function as expected. I've tried re-seating the SD card, and multiple restarts, but to no avail. What's going on here and how do I fix it?

  • I'm having issues like these too. Does anyone answer the questions?

  • Alas I have the same issue.

    "App requires external storage"

  • I have this problem too. Still no answers? We can't be the only ones in the world ...

  • This is a similar issue to the Amazon Firestick, where is you add external storage such as a card or USB not all apps will install on to that storage and will require to be loaded onto the internal storage. If you research this on YouTube it is getting more common with newer versions of apps (not sure why).

I have a similar issue with a Lenovo tablet.
